When the Earl, Marcus Cloud, hears about a mistress he has never met, he travels to London to check her out. H does occasionally ponder his many mistresses over the years-the type of woman he usually finds, but not enough to get on my nerves. But when Marcus agrees to play along with her charade, she doesn't know that the determined earl has plans of his own: to tease and tempt her, until the beautiful deceiver becomes more than his mistress in name only. There is the bright and intelligent heroine, and the strong and somewhat dour hero - and sparks fly when they come into conflict.

To be fair, I don't know what other ending would have been possible, since revealing that she was in fact a single woman pretending to be a mistress would have ruined her reputation, so I guess Ms. Iphiginia, try to say that three times fast, Bright is an educated woman who doesn’t want to live by the rules.But even though he thinks that Iphiginia is the blackmailer, he doesn't put a stop on her charade and plays along with her, decided to see how far she'll go. The hero has scientific endeavors and rules of his own that he never breaks probably because of his past (first marriage). Our heroine is Iphiginia Bright, a strong independent intellect who has traveled the world, owns her own academy and business, and is fiercely protective of her loved ones.

Amanda's brunettte hair will make you feel the comfort and love that she truly puts into her craft as you expereience whatever filthy fantasies you may have dreamt up for you two to explore. Though Marcus isn't Julian (from Seduction), he's still one of my favorite historical heroes out there. Iphiginia is a exuberant,independent and intellectual woman,and to Marcus Valerius Cloud,Earl of Masters,she was like a shooting star who lit up the dark sky in his world. I suspect you feel that way because you are so accustomed to being correct most of the time yourself.The story did kind of dragged a little after this scene, when the heroine refused to marry the hero because he's not in love with her. The blackmailer is so vicious he actually killed a member of the ton, Marcus Valerius Cloud, Earl of Masters, so he truly must be stopped. His wife has left again and the sight of a sweaty woman — any sweaty woman — is enough to get his hormones going.

As for the mystery part of this book, it was okay but some of the blackmailer's actions didn't make sense to me. Iphiginia and the earl quibble and caress their way through the rest of the life-threatening investigation. It sounded like mindless fun with the plot of blackmail, a woman impersonating a mistress and a mysterious rake that lived by his own rules. But when a good friend of his is also being blackmailed by the same person, Marcus decides to help Iphiginia catch the culprit. The latter half of the story becomes predictable when the hero demands marriage because it's the "right thing to do" and the heroine refuses because she's being asked for the "wrong reasons.He realised he did not want to be that type of man any longer and that this one woman held the key to a different life for him. Says the girl who, despite her family's warnings, lets a man flip her skirt without any second thoughts. Based on the premise, I thought I would have a problem with Iphiginia because, let's face it, her plan to unmask the blackmailer was just "crazy". I had a hard time believing her name was really Iphginia or whatever but I got over it once I all of a sudden became her and had the most daunting crush on Marcus.
