I'm also curious what other configurations can be set up, like can you have 2 tracks showing 32 steps of each.

As well as some text labels printed on the surface, there are illuminated markers that show when any of the outputs are triggered, a nice way of adding some at-a-glance feedback on your patterns. Also, in the first layout, steps are "paged" and you use the top buttons 1 to 4 to access pages, you don't scroll steps with a knob. Polyrhythm is an option to let each track rotate on its own timing rather than waiting for the longest track to finish before repeating. I'm sure they will be working hard to sort this out ASAP as it's a shame it's a little unpredictable. Great care has been taken to ensure accuracy in the preparation of this article but neither Sound On Sound Limited nor the publishers can be held responsible for its contents. However I did find that there was some wonky behaviour when switching patterns that were set to differing step and pattern lengths, when set to Bar snap, I got some odd offsets between tracks that threw everything out of whack, but I couldn't figure out why it was doing that. This track doesn’t accept any pitch information, tie or slides but you still have Length, Offset, Probability and Step Division. If you play legato on one of the melodic channels, meaning you play a new note while still holding down the previous, the corresponding gate output goes low instead of staying high which makes it impossible to record ties or play legato at all using CV/gate. I have tried syncing it from multiple clock sources, tried using it as a master, changing the active polarity, nothing seems to help.

It works separately from the track so you can do whatever you want without it actually changing the sequence underneath which reappears as soon as you go to another mode.

Tracks A,B and C are for melodic/chords tracks and all have GATE/CV and MOD control voltage outputs for modular gear (monophonic) using MIDI, you can get up to 8 notes per step. The SQ-64 won’t just allow you to create incredible sequences; it packs several features and modes that will let you edit on the fly and play any of your gear real-time.
